General Surgery

Anesthesia - Modern anesthetic agents provide improved safety, rapid recovery, and excellent pain control. A variety of anesthetic agents are available, and if your pet needs anesthesia, the agent or combination of agents that provide the most safety and effective pain control will be used.

IV Catheter and Fluids - An IV catheter and IV fluids may be recommended for your pet while under anesthesia. The IV catheter provides access to a vein for administration of anesthetics and medications and for an IV fluid drip.

IV fluids are especially important for procedures with anticipated blood loss or for pets with compromised kidney function. They may also be needed for any pets who experience problems with low blood pressure while under anesthesia. Fluids maintain the blood pressure to support the vital organs and minimize the chance of anesthetic reactions or complications.

Laser SurgeryThe laser replaces a surgical blade and seals blood vessels and nerve endings resulting in less bleeding, pain, and swelling.  Some surgeries, such as removal of small tumors or warts, can be done entirely with the laser and do not require sutures (stitches).

Spay / NeuterYou have made the right decision to spay/neuter your pet. Spaying or neutering is one of the most important preventative health measures you can provide for your pet.  Spaying/Neutering helps pets lead longer, healthier lives.

For females, the risk of ovarian or uterine cancer and of mammary tumors is significantly reduced. Spaying also eliminates heat cycles and their associated problems.

Neutered males tend to be less agressive; the likelihood of testicular and prostate cancer decreases; the urges to "mark" their territory may lessen, and a neutered male is less likely to want to roam in search of potential mates.
